Pause on Referrals

Unfortunately due to a high volume of referrals and significant waiting times, the Footsteps team will be pausing new referrals for young people into the service for a short period. This is so we can provide the support needed to young people already in our services.

This is to be reviewed by the end of June. In the meantime if you need to access support a please refer to resource page

How to organise a referral?

Healthcare Professionals can refer young people to us by emailing the Footsteps referral form to hash.footsteps@nhs.net. Young people or their parent/guardian should book online or call us on 01642 061047.

We accept referrals for young people residing in any Stockton-on-Tees postcode or those attending schools in this area.

You can access the service yourself or if it is felt to be more appropriate a referral form can be completed by another professional. This could be:
• Your own GP
• Your school
• A youth worker
• A social worker
• A CAMHS practitioner
• A paediatrician

The following people are not suitable for this service:

  • Young people who require urgent care – Please contact NHS111
  • Those who are an immediate risk to themselves or others – Those at immediate risk should call the CAMHS Crisis Team on 0800 0516171
  • Those who are already under the CAMHS service
  • Those with significant mental health disorders requiring Tier 3 services
